Sharing partner built application stories from SAPPHIRENOW – Part 1
After a super duper SAPPHIRENOW with so many announcements related to the SAP Cloud Platform , SAP Leonardo and partnerships, I wanted to summarize a few of the sessions that I found interesting at SAPPHIRENOW. 1: Meet Your Business Needs Faster Through a Cloud Platform- Unilever and Osconomy
Unilever is a consumer goods company with more than 400 brands present in over 190 countries where 2.5Bn people use Unilever products everyday. They had a very interesting problem in the area of their logistics. Unilever logistics operations uses over 442 warehouses ,210,000 locations operating 10,000 trucks everyday working with 2400 transport providers. Monitoring truck movement is very important for Unilever to ensure that products are safe, delivered in time, and the safety of the drivers is not compromised. Unilever searched for a new tool which is cost effective, can be used by small carriers, is available on mobile devices and also has global scalability. Osconomy GmbH was for Unilever a flexible, agile partner and specialist in this area. Osconomy, are a strategy consulting company with more than 20 years of expertise and the team consisting fellows from SAP ecosystem who build applications on the SAP Cloud Platform. They developed an app “Truck Advisor”.
Truck Advisor is a SAP Cloud Platform based mobile appln solution with a backend functionality for transport control and management teams. This enables truck drivers (APP User) to communicate with a “Truck Advisor” backend functionality within any backend transport management software. Truck Advisor makes transport management more transparent and reliable by delivering real-time status and tracking information towards all related parties in the transport chain like distribution centers, warehouses, customers, carriers and the drivers. Based on this information the solution provides the base to improve scheduling, availability and improvement of utilization for loading and transport capacities and improves communication with the drivers.\
2: Improve Employee Engagement with Enhanced Recognition Programs – Asian Paints and Semos

Asian Paints Ltd, India’s leading and Asia’s fourth largest paint company, boosts its employee total compensation strategy and offering by delivering on the HR goals and employee desires of a recognition and rewards program. Employment engagement was very important for them, therefore they selected the solution JobPts [job points] from Semos which inspires achievement with peer-to-peer recognition and rewards in order to attract, motivate, and retain employees on a global scale. This application integrates with SAP SuccessFactors for employee data, social recognition, and payroll. Employees can give and receive recognition with instant feedback. JobPts powers recognition and reward practices in their enterprise – and is fun to use for employees and managers. Their motto of “We make recognition easy. You make it mean something.
