What’s Behind the Sudden Interest in Solution Manager?

Solution Managers time has arrived.

After years of neglect, Solution Manager has become one of the hottest topics for SAP customers. Like most things marketing, it is long after the hype that the real action kicks in.  SolMan 7.1 was released in August 2011 to great fanfare with promises of reduced TCO, to manage complexity and generally make ITs life easier. These promises have taken 6 years to become reality and have been driven by underlying market conditions like the digital imperative and SAP itself moving all its SAP Cloud Platform support to run on SolMan.

So, while the hype has died away (11 sessions at SAPPHIRE this year down from 16 in 2016) and with a new 7.2 release, customers have started to get on with implementing SolMan for more than just Early Watch reports and license activation. The ability to reduce TCO, manage complexity, speed up change and with increased usability is now a reality. This is reflected in the latest Gartner report “What’s Next for SAP Solution Manager?”.
