In this Blog I would like to provide Enhancements on UMT In BI 4.2 SP4.

BY Default when we Install BI, we will get few Tools and to get more tools we need to Install Client Tools.

Easily Developers or Administrators can complete Few Tasks.

Default Tools With Installation:

  1. Central Configuration Manger

  2. Wdeploy

  3. Upgrade Management Tool


Client Tools:



To move/Fetch Data From Database Client Tools are used.

Upgrade Management Tool: It is used to convert BI objects (user groups,Folders,Reports, Universes,Information Designer objects and Other objects) and Export from lower versions to higher BI versions (eg: XI3.1 to BI 4.2).

There is a Difference between UMT and LCM.

UMT: used to move objects between different  versions of platform

LCM (Life Cycle Manager): This is a service in BI, which is responsible for promotion management (Transport objects). It is used to move objects between platforms which are on same version.



 

Enhancements:

  1. Select Filters

  2. Log level (welcome Screen)

  3. Save Credentials for Future Use (Logon Page)

  4. Minimum Space Required By UMT for Documents Migration

  1. Live to Live

  2. Live to BIAR

  3. BIAR to Live
