SAP Cloud Appliance Library now supports Azure Resource Manager

Hello Folks,

I am glad to share the good news that now you can use the Microsoft Azure Resource Manager (ARM) in the SAP Cloud Appliance Library when you create an instance.

We recommend to start using Azure Resource Manager instead of the classic deployment as ARM is also the recommendation of Microsoft Azure. For more information about these deployment models, see this Microsoft article.

How to create your first instance on ARM?

From the Create Instance wizard on the step for the account, select the cloud provider Microsoft Azure and copy your Microsoft Azure subscription ID.

If you do not have your subscription ID in hand, sign in to the Microsoft Azure Portal. In the navigation pane, choose Subscriptions. For your subscription, you can get the Subscription ID in the table:

Next choose Authorize to establish the connection to this cloud provider and grant permissions to SAP Cloud Appliance Library to access your Azure Active Directory.

Then the consent dialog from Microsoft Azure is displayed and you have to choose Accept.

After that you will be redirected again to the SAP Cloud Appliance Library to continue with the creation of the solution instance.

How long will SAP Cloud Appliance Library support Microsoft Azure (Classic)?

We will keep supporting the existing solution instances created via the classic deployment until the last one is terminated, but we plan to disable the creation of the new instances on September 1st 2017.
