In our day-to-day life, everything is digitized. An estimated 8.4 billion connected things are expected to be operational this year, a 31% increase over 2016. This means that every human, on average, on our planet has more than one connection between the physical and digital world. And because data is quickly becoming nearly ubiquitous, the ability to capture, assess, and use this information is becoming quite challenging.

Linking this vast amount of data to your business requires thoughtful reconsideration of existing business operations and systems. All data sources and systems together must be built on the same value chain. However, this is often easier said than done. Although this is widespread recognition across lines of business and industries that such an exercise is necessary, long and costly implementation typically end up impeding any move to inject flexibility into business processes and engage in high-paced, decisive action.

To help our customers achieve their vision of a digital business, the SAP Digital Business Services organization launched a new offering to accelerate and simplify their journeys: the SAP Model Company service.

What is SAP Model Company?

As a package of preassembled software, best practices, and content, SAP Model Company enables businesses to adopt new technology quickly – with less risk, optimized total cost of ownership, and maximized performance. The service is built on our experiences in delivering successful, real-life digital transformation projects, enabling us to tailor this service to meet the needs of a particular industry or line of business.

SAP Model Company is an embedded component of the overall digital transformation road map and delivered as a service. The outcome-based, preconfigured design of the service introduces standardization across a variety of use cases including:

  • Airline back offices
  • Core retail
  • Insurance
  • Integrated digital banking
  • Oil and gas
  • Utilities
  • Connected manufacturing
  • R&D, engineering, and sustainability
  • Supply chain planning
  • Enterprise foundation

And we are not just stopping there. In fact, we are currently working with our customers to innovate and roll out services for additional industries and lines of business later this year.
