Ciao Milano

The Go-Live Experience is a mandatory training for all implementers of SAP Business ByDesign, and, in my second week at SAP, and I had the pleasure of running a 4-day Go Live Experience workshop for the early-adaptor Partners in Italy.

The target audience for this workshop was New ByDesign Implementation Professional Services Team Members, Project Managers, and Functional (Finance, Supply Chain, HR and Projects) Consultants

I understand it was one of the largest groups (16 candidates from 8 partners). All had been through the pre-requirement training and were keen to “Go-Live”.

Since I have been implementing SAP for the last 4 years, I was happy to enhance the content with some “real-world” context, based on my experience and knowledge of the ByDesign system.

The candidates took to the system well, and by the end of the first day were elbow-deep in to system configuration.

Our 4-day agenda covered the following topics

Day 1.

  • Project Kickoff Workshop
  • Business Case Exercise
  • Scoping Exercise
  • Business Scenario Workshop
  • Project Verification Q-Gate
  • Organizational Management Workshop
  • Organizational Management Exercise

Day 2.

  • Prepare Phase Activities
  • Where to Go for Help
  • System Administration Workshop
  • Fine-Tuning Exercise
  • Solution Acceptance Q-Gate
  • Cutover Planning Workshop
  • Data Migration Workshop
  • Data Migration Exercise

Day 3.

  • System Landscape
  • Data Migration Exercise
  • Test Planning Workshop
  • Testing Exercise
  • Test Plan Updates

Day 4.

  • System Landscape
  • Data Migration Exercise
  • Test Planning Workshop
  • Testing Exercise
  • Test Plan Updates
  • Solution Walkthroughs

Day 4 finished with each group delivering back to their fellow candidates a walk-through of their solution process, that they had configured, tested and migrated data into in the previous 3 days.

This was incredibly successful, each group successfully completed their data migration and process configuration, so each solution walkthrough was smooth and error-free.

I was really impressed with the ability of the groups to navigate around Business ByDesign after only a few days of instruction. A true validation of the intuitive user interface delivered in ByD.

We received some positive feedback from all the candidates, each one indicated that they learned a lot from the course and that they would recommend the content to their collegues.

      Dear Ciao,
It's very nice to hear that you have provided such a wonderful training.
Can you please provide the guideline documents to do these steps at the time of implementation?
That would be really helpful for all implementers of SAP Business ByDesign.
I'm a Techno-Functional consultant in Buhler (India) Private Limited and we are implementing
      SAP Business ByDesign.
      Thank you very much.
      Best regards,

      hey thanks for the comment,

the documentation we use in the course is proprietary SAP intellectual property, we do not distribute it.

Some of the content should be available to you via the Business ByDesign wiki
