It used to be that a ticket to the boardroom required experience as a CEO, public company CFO well-versed in Sarbanes-Oxley, or plenty of experience as a P&L card-carrying executive. While these credentials are remain boardroom essentials, executives with in-depth experience with talent-related strategies are showing real value in today’s policy and strategy discussions. Does this mean that HR becoming a new gateway to the boardroom?

Let’s face it, people, or more specifically, the human capital possessed by the workforce, is the only true differentiation that can sustain competitiveness. In fact, the unique combination of human capital will make or break a company’s ability to design and execute on growth strategies. Successful investments in digital HR, emerging markets, and defining new innovation disruption face no greater enabler or inhibitor than talent.

CHROs are responsible for the company’s greatest resource and its heftiest investment. Depending on the industry, anywhere between 10% and 50% is typically spent on a company’s workforce. When it comes to that kind of spend, CEO and fellow board members need guidance and forward-thinking talent strategists who represent the voice of the workforce, from external talent pools to corporate alumni and from employees on the payroll to contractors and interns.

The radio show will cover key trends, pitfalls, and opportunities for bringing your HR expertise into the boardroom, including:

  • The state of the relationship between the CEO and the CHRO
