Usage Metering in API Management

Do you want to quickly get a glimpse of usage statistics on your digital assets?

Do you want to easily provide usage related input data to your Billing system?

Introducing, Metering in API Management!

With the latest increment of our product, you can look at the usage information for your APIs, Products and Applications in the API Portal and Developer Portal in the list view and the Object detail header.

Example screen shots shown below.

API Portal:

Developer Portal:

Note: The Analytics dashboard could still be used for advanced use cases to get an insight on usage trends, performance and other statistical data. The Metering information is most useful for integration with Billing system.

You can also retrieve the Metering information using REST APIs that are described on API Business Hub here . The APIs let you retrieve usage metrics for all your APIs, Products and Applications in a given timeframe. You could use the ‘Try it out!’ feature to experience these APIs.

We are listening, so go ahead and tell us what you think of this new capability and how we could improve it to meet your business needs.

      Hi Murali,

You ask scary questions. In theory this can be done today, it just takes some work to set up. Continuous effort is being put in to make Billing a smoother process, but it is TBD. Metering was the first step in this direction. We have also implemented an in-system Billing engine (Blog TBA).

Every journey is made up of many steps 🙂

      Regards,
      Elijah

      Hi Murali,

To add on to what Elijah already replied, we have capabilities to create Rate plans and generate bills based on these Rate plans. I will blog about this soon :).

      Thanks for watching this space!
