Back in 2015 the SAP HANA Academy created a video tutorial series based on a realistic business scenario to help you learn how to “join the dots” and build an application from end-to-end using SAP HANA. Known as "Live3", it was based on the SAP Cloud Platform developer trial edition so you could follow along yourself – for free!
"Live3" proved to be extremely popular, however the rapid pace of innovation provided by the free "trial" account of the SAP Cloud Platform made it challenging to maintain the tutorials on an on-going basis.
The recent release of SAP HANA 2.0 provided a perfect opportunity to "resurrect" this scenario - this time designed for SAP HANA, express edition in order to provide greater flexibility. You can choose to build it either on-premise or in the cloud - via the VMWare image or binary install - and it's still for free! SAP HANA, express edition license even allows you to deploy a productive scenario!
Of course it also made sense to re-imagine the scenario to exploit the latest, greatest capabilities of SAP HANA 2.0 such as SAP HANA XS Advanced Model, SAP Web IDE for SAP HANA, and SAP HANA graph processing.
Code-named "Live5", this enablement offering walks you through a step-by-step project to build a web-based application using real-time data feeds that combines sentiment analysis with predictive analytics with graph processing whilst exploiting native development features of SAP HANA 2.0.

From the business perspective “Live5” allows the CMO to better understand social network sentiment relating to his company, services, or products in order to identify those in a position of influence that publish negative sentiment – so that this segment they can be recruited into a specialized education program. The insight evolves in real-time as new information is posted to social media sites.
On the technical side, “Live5” is a native SAP HANA 2.0 application designed for SAP HANA, express edition leveraging real-time data feeds from the Twitter API via Node.js, data modeling in SAP HANA XS Advanced Model, text analytics for sentiment analysis, predictive analytics for segmentation, graph processing for neighborhood analysis, web services via Node.js XSJS compatibilty, and HTML5 applications based on Fiori templates and SAPUI5 with custom charting in D3.
We show you every step of the journey from downloading and configuring SAP HANA, express edition - to loading data in real-time via the twitter API - to integrating SAP HANA advanced analytics capabilities such as text analysis, predictive analysis and graph processing - to building web services and UI's.
