CodeTalk-ing UI5 and APIs

Hey there all! Hope you are having a great #APIFriday! While I don’t have a new blog about an API, I did do a CodeTalk with Ian Thain this week about how you can integrate the API Business Hub easily into your UI5 application. Check it out!

If you are interested in re-watching just the demo I presented, click here to see it on YouTube!

The application I am demoing is something I have been working on in Q1, an application to help determine where the best location to move is based on selected factors. In this demo, I used the Google Maps JS API. I wrote a blog post earlier about how to use Google Maps in your UI5 application. Check it out here!

The Show Employees button calls the SuccessFactors API. I am using the API Business Hub to get some test data of employees in the San Francisco Bay Area. In your live application, you would want to switch from the test URL from the API Business Hub to the URL from your productive instance of the SAP SuccessFactors. Need a refresher on how to use the API Business Hub with UI5? Try out my tutorial series. This 3 part series will take your through finding and setting up you API Business Hub account (it’s free!), testing the APIs available, and integrating the API into your application.

I am continuing to add components to the application. I’ve added in a heatmap to show the parking density of areas if you need parking as well as some KML layers to show local transportation options. Stay tuned for more CodeTalks with these new features!

If you are in Frankfurt for the UI5CON next week, join me for a live version of #APIFriday! Can’t wait to talk with the UI community about APIs!
