A Case Study: Individualized Bike Sales Insights

Sales management of a trading company asks for the sales revenue segmented by product and configuration options because a customer, a bike manufacturer, wants details about the next generation of individualized bikes.

IT is asked to prepare the respective query – which is, thanks to SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics – very easy. SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics is based on predefined primary queries, which make it almost good to go. IT only needs to enrich the SAP standard queries with the configuration specific to the particular product line, here “individualized bikes”.

Directly from a tablet, sales management uses the SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics report to identify the high runner configurations and can then start carving out upselling potential based on further individualized options.

With regard to using SAP HANA, SAP Fiori, and a simplified data model, individualized product sales of such kind were not possible before SAP S/4HANA. This capability was introduced only with SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics:

  • Integration of classification and configuration data in SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics
  • Flexible use of configuration and classification data for real time analytics
  • Combination possible with other business objects such as sales orders or production orders
  • Modeling integration into ABAP, including connection to ABAP transport system
