Why SAP Analytics Cloud supports Google Chrome

Why does SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) currently only support Google Chrome as a browser?

Here at SAP, we get this question a lot. Contrary to what you hear, we also support Internet Explorer for viewing. We are also moving in stages to better support Internet Explorer in the future.

Outside of Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, you will also begin to see support for Microsoft Edge with read only abilities this year.

But why do we prioritize Google Chrome?

The answer is simple: it is a prioritization exercise. Google has the largest penetration in the browser space, so it is the natural ‘first choice’ for support. This is what we have done with SAC today. We want to ensure we are getting it right – delivering a great experience with good performance. Chrome’s current engine is more modern compared to other browsers, allowing it to handle SAC performance better. Using Chrome as our starting point, we will expand to support more browsers over time.
