Become an SAP Mentor

It’s that time again – while the SAP Mentor nominations can be made year-round, the current deadline for this round is March 1st.  On behalf of the SAP Mentor Advisory Board, I invite you to nominate a SAP Mentor.

Who are SAP Mentors?

SAP Mentors are exceptional independent community members who share their passion, expertise, and knowledge of SAP products with others. SAP Mentors help bring the voice of community to SAP.  They make a positive impact to the SAP community.

Nomination Process

Anyone who is making significant contributions to the SAP Community can be nominated.

The plan is to announce the new mentors prior to SAPPHIRE NOW in May in Orlando.


Mentor Attributes

Potential Mentors share the following attributes:

  • Lead by example
  • Are humble
  • Passionate about SAP
  • Offer constructive criticism
  • No culture of entitlement
  • Inclusive
  • Share their knowledge

How are SAP Mentors Chosen?

Last year we had an online webcast about How SAP Mentors are chosen.  I encourage you to review that before submitting your nomination.  Also see Jason’s last nomination blog here.


Speaking for myself, I highly recommend that you include links to blogs written and links to how your nominee has shared your knowledge with the SAP Community when you complete the survey.

    thanks for making us aware of the soon-to-come nomination deadline!


    Maybe it's worth pointing out more clearly, that there are two possible options:

    - nominate someone (else) to become a mentor

    - applying (=nominate yourself) to become a mentor


    Being nominated by someone else probably gives a little plus on "humbleness", but applying for yourself maybe adds a little towards "passion" 🙂

  • Let me give a little feedback/chance for improvement on the nomination-process:

    I nominated a community user and did not have the E-Mail address, so I left that blank (or wrote “n/a”); But I did give the profile link.

    Later, I was asked (via E-Mail), if I could provide the E-Mail-Address. (“No I can’t, I don’t know it – if I knew, I would have told you right away!”)


    Suggestion: Give the people working through the nominations (temporary?) moderator rights (or assign a helping Moderator to them), so they can contact those SAP-Community users via message themselves. (Either asking for the E-Mail address, or asking the questions at hand right away).

    • Thanks for your feedback Joachim, we did contact them all via SAP Community, linkedIn, Twitter etc. But with some we did have issues, or didn't hear back, so in some cases we went back to the original nominator to see if there is any more information. BTW: this is why it is so important to maintain your data in the community and check your messages 🙂
