Whether you’re an employee or an employer, the new, free open online course Empathy in Motion: The Power of Employee Volunteering, is designed to increase your ability to drive social impact. The course presents a model of volunteerism that integrates on-the-ground logistics with the potential for meaningful transformation - helping you enhance your journey toward becoming an agent for positive change.

Empathy in Motion: The Power of Employee Volunteering, starting March 14, is brought to you by the RW Institute and is hosted by openSAP.

Harnessing the power of employee volunteerism

Companies across the globe are gatekeepers of a valuable experience for employees – the experience of taking action in communities where they live and work to make a difference.

When employees volunteer with organizations or causes in need, the opportunity arises to be reminded of what it means to be human, opening up new perspectives and experiences. Volunteering can help us remember that we are all part of a greater narrative, and that we all have a role to play.

And, companies that provide volunteer opportunities and support, and encourage employees to volunteer can increase productivity, build morale, encourage team building, and help to develop and build the company culture.

For companies with established volunteering processes and structures, it can be difficult to come up with new and innovative ideas to motivate employees to take part and to keep them interested in volunteerism. For small or new companies, it can be difficult to put a framework together and begin organizing and driving volunteering initiatives amongst employees. Empathy in Motion guides learners through both of these scenarios and more.
