Incorrect texts displayed after supplement language English installed in each client
Definitions:
What is the purpose of language parameter “zcsa/system_language” :
It is default logon language . Hence the default value for the language parameter “zcsa/system_language” is English.
What is the supplement language ?
A language supplementation replaces any missing texts in the logon language say Japanese with texts in the supplementation language say English .
What is the purpose of secondary language parameter “zcsa/second_language“.
If you want to display texts in a language in which the texts say Japanese are not available, SAP Web AS attempts to display texts or objects in another language, the secondary language. This secondary language option is supported for the following objects from SAP Web AS Release 6.20:
– ABAP text elements
– Screen (including texts from the ABAP Dictionary)
– GUI status
– OTR (Online Text Repository)
The secondary language must be a completely translated language. The secondary language is independent of the logon language.
It is recommended to keep Supplementation and secondary language in sync. Else display screen might come up with texts in two different languages.
Issue : In tx code ST05
Some texts are shown other than logon language and supplement language which are incorrect (i.e. German texts are displayed as shown in the figure below. (This should display English texts but instead German texts are displayed)
Logon Language = JA (Japanese)
Supplement Language = English
As shown in the above figure, German texts are displayed instead of supplement language (English)
Root Cause :
Login to system in client 000 as shown in the figure below
Enter Tx code smlt as shown in the figure below
As shown in the above everything look good and no error reported. Then why German texts are displayed.
SO we need to check whether issue occurs only in tx code st05? What about other transaction codes such as ST02, SM51 etc. This is described below
Change the logon language from EN (English) to JA (Japanese) or VI (Vietnamese) or KO (Koreans)
As shown in the above figure, tx code st01 , English texts are displayed correctly (i..e supplement
language is english). Missing texts or german texts are not displayed in the above figure. That means
Tx code st01 is working fine.
As shown in the figure above, supplement language texts are displayed correctly in tx code st06.
As shown in the figure above, supplement language texts are displayed correctly in tx code sm51.
As shown in the figure above, supplement language (English) texts are displayed correctly in the
menu path “system–>Status.
As shown in the above figure, German texts are displayed This is not correct because German is not
supplement language. Instead English texts should be displayed.
Find out what causes the incorrect (non-supplement language) texts displayed.
Check the parameter “zcsa/second_language” as shown in the figure below
The value should be different from that of ‘zcsa/system_language’ means default logon language
However, Secondary language should be in synch with the supplement language (not sure whether it
solve the issues by changing the zcsa/second_language from “D” to “E” ) as described below
Click Yes. Then restart application instances only
Check whether all instances are green using sapcontrol command.
Then check tx code st05 again by login to Japanese language in any client say 000 or any customer
client.
As shown in the above, still German texts are displayed which are not correct (as shown highlighted
in Red colour). However, supplement language English texts are displayed which is correct
(highlighted in Green colour). That means issue is still not solved.
Find the root cause why german texts are displayed instead of supplement language.
Then in client 000, login to system with English language.
Enter tx code smlt
Then select language for example Japanese (highlighted in Orange color as shown in the above),
then on the menu path, click
Language –>Special Actions —>Import Support Packages
Immediately you will find RED as shown in the above figure.
The reason is that Languages installed manually after applying support packages or Add-On installation with Support packages using SUM tool.
In that case After languages installed, perform supplement language first in client 000 and then must perform Import Language parts of Support packages.
Note that Best Practice : The above red color will not be happening if you perform the following activities in correct sequential order
Install RDBMS
Install application software package for example ERP 6.0 EHP 8 or S4HANA 1610 with NW 7.5
Language installation (manual using tx code smlt).
Perform Supplement language manually using tx code smlt first in client 000
Then check the status Import language parts of Support Package in tx code — shows GREEN or not. If it is showing RED then perform language import part of support packages.
The procedure for Language Import parts of Support packages is described below
Just click the symbol highlighted in Red color as shown above in the top left corner of the screen.
As shown in the above, provide the folder path the location of SAPKITABPQ SAR file and
SAPKITAB9R SAR files or Uncar the KITABPQ.SAR file and KITAB9R.SAR file in
to /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in using SAPCAR command.
Then click on the “Search Path” button.
Then click Next highlighted in Blue color on the top left of the screen.
Then click Next button highlighted in Blue color on the top of the screen
Then click on the “Import Language data in background” button highlighted red color as shown in the above
Click on the “Overwrite” button as shown in the above. Please do not forget to click on the Overwrite
button as it is irreversible process. (means cannot reverse back if you click by mistake on “Do not
Overwrite”. You need to wait for next higher level sp pack stack upgrade and then execute Import
language parts of import support package.)
Then check in tx code sm50 (in separate session , then click on Active workprocesses ), click refresh
continuously till the process complete. Takes approx. 15 minutes to complete the import language
parts of support package.
Then enter tx code smlt
Then select language say for example Japanese ( highlighted in Orange color as shown in the
above ) then on the menu path,
Click Language –>Special Actions –> Import Support Packages
The status Showed Green colour.
Then check tx code st05 again by login to Japanese language in any client say 000 or customer client.
Good news. The issue is solved .. Supplement language English texts are displayed .
SO the main culprit is that incomplete Language import Part of support Packages in SUM. Hence
perform the complete language import part of support package in tx code smlt immediately after
SP stack upgrade or Add-On installation completed using SUM tool.
Repeat the above steps for other languages too for example Koreans, Vietnamese etc.

Thanks mate,
Very useful information
Regards
Hi,
I just set up my IDES system and my problem is exactly the same as you described.
ST05 screen is exactly the same you mentioned in blog.
But there is no parameter such as zcsa/second_language in my parameters list. Sould I add such a parameter and make the settings as you described?
And I couldn't find KITABPQ.SAR file and KITAB9R.SAR in Software Downloads - SAP ONE Support Launchpad link? How can I find it?
Thanks...
