Welcome back to the second part of the #S4HANA Integrated Quality Management use case in this series of use cases that are relevant for the SAP S/4HANA 1610 release. Last time we talked about the business value of our innovations in Integrated Quality Management. I demonstrated, how the new quality management functionalities enable you to fulfill quality targets and exceed customer expectations. Today we will take a look at the technical aspects.

As part of the new release, quality management is now integrated to the digital core of SAP S/4HANA. While the Integrated Quality Management as part of SAP S/4HANA has feature and function parity to SAP ECC 6.0x, it also entails major innovations in the core modules and includes additional industries in the core. Of course, the new 1610 release also leverages major key innovations of the previous 1511 release, such as the 40-digit material number.

With the new 1610 release, SAP delivered superior end-user experience together with additional functionalities. As a consequence all quality engineering and quality improvement processes are supported.

Further enhancing end-user experience, new SAP Fiori roles have been added with the new SAP S/4HANA release, such as:

  • Quality technician

  • Quality engineer

  • Quality planner

  • Quality manager

  • Quality auditor

  • Calibration technician

Leveraging this new end-user roles, core quality management processes are now supported with new role-specific SAP Fiori launchpad.

SAP Fiori App Record Inspection Results

Nevertheless, with SAP S/4HANA 1610 not only new SAP Fiori roles but also new SAP Fiori apps have been shipped. The new transactional SAP Fiori app for results recording has been designed specifically for quality technicians to make their work easier and more efficient. In order to achieve this, the app provides flexible and state-of-the-art worklists to handle inspection lots, samples and characteristics.

Throughout this new SAP Fiori app, end-user greatly benefit from easy-to-use, but comprehensive interfaces that can be utilized for documenting the results of various types of inspection characteristics.

Fiori Search & Object Pages

Another new functionality is search and contextual navigation in SAP Fiori object pages for important quality management objects. Fully exploiting the key benefits of the in-memory SAP HANA database, Integrated Quality Management now provides state-of-the-art search experience with superior performance. To reduce the IT footprint and increase response time, SAP intends to provide functionality similar to the quality management information system in SAP S/4HANA with database analytics provided through Open Data Protocol (OData) and core data services (CDS) views.

Object pages received a design overhaul so that they now provide intuitive and user friendly interfaces which allow for a complete drilldown of all relevant information regarding quality management objects. You can see that by looking at the following screenshots. The screenshot below shows the object page of a specific inspection lot.
