In my earlier blogs, I have given detailed on S4H, Deployment options, HEC, HCP etc. In this blog, Part 4, I am going to touch base on SAP Active Methodology for S4H implementation.

"SAP Active" is the methodology introduced by SAP to simplify and accelerate the adoption of S4H to its customers. There are three main components to SAP Active:

1. Best Practices - Ready configured business processes based on industry best practices.
2. Methodology   - SAP Guidance to accelerate implementation and optimisation.
3. Guided Conf.   - Tools to help activate best practices content and make customised adjustments.

SAP Active is available for on-premise and cloud editions of SAP S/4HANA. It supports all the 3 types of transations (can refer my previous blog Step-Up to S4H), namely

1.) New Implementation
2.)  System Conversion
3.) Landscape Transformation.

SAP Active methodology is based out of Agile Methodology. It is designed to co-innovate with customers and is accessible for partners who can add content to support specific industry. SAP Active methodology can be applied to both Cloud and on-premise editions. SAP Active provides you with out-of-box migration content and new implementation scenario (in the cloud) called guided configuration.

SAP Active methodology consists of 4 stages. Prepare, Explore, Realise Deploy.
The goal of SAP Active is to provide customers with a faster and less service intensive initial implementation whether it is in cloud or on-premise. In addition SAP Active is to provide the customer with the ability to innovate and adopt of innovations rapidly throughout the entire product lifecycle.
SAP Best practices provide the baseline configurations which enables ready to run digitised analytical and operational business processes that cover the fundamental business processes of an organisation.
Best practices also guide customers through migration processes to SAP S4HANA, whether they migrate existing ERP solutions from a non-SAP database or from Legacy systems. so, technically whether it's a new implementation of system conversion we don't start from scratch, best practices and guided configuration are always there as the platform for S4H transformations. Currently SAP is offering best practices for Enterprise edition, Project Edition and Marketing Edition.

Now that we are clear with SAP Active Methodology, we will further get into details of each stage of Active with S4H transformation New Implementation, System Conversion and Landscape transformation scenarios in my next blogs.
