The SAP CAL solution “SAP Solution Manager 7.2: Design and Build in your SAP S/4HANA Planning Phase” is now updated to support package 03 (GA) level!
Hello, this is Evan Stoddard, one of the product managers for SAP Solution Manager.
SAP Solution Manager Product Management is pleased to announce that the solution “SAP Solution Manager 7.2: Design and Build in your SAP S/4HANA Planning Phase” has now been updated to support package stack 03 level, which is the same version as general availability. The updated solution is now available to SAP customers and partners via the Cloud Appliance Library (CAL) at http://cal.sap.com.
As you know, SAP Solution Manager 7.2 is the most complete lifecycle management solution for SAP and non-SAP software. It allows you to continuously protect your investments, leverage innovation, and achieve value from your SAP solutions. It features a Web-based solution documentation, SAP Fiori-based SAP Solution Manager Launchpad, ready-made deployment best practices, integrated Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) graphical modeling; and enhanced project and release management capabilities. The goal is to provide a comprehensive design and build environment that allows you to even more efficiently manage your existing ERP solutions and implement the next generation business suite from SAP: SAP S/4HANA.
This education-focused appliance includes both SAP Solution Manager 7.2 ABAP and JAVA systems as well as a MS Windows desktop to allow easy system access via a standard SAP frontend. This appliance runs on Linux/SAP HANA, with AWS and Azure as infrastructure providers. This appliance is based on the previously-released SAP Solution Manager 7.2 solution, but includes the installation of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 support package stack 03.
Once you create your instance, you can review the provided SAP S/4HANA Best Practice business process documentation in the new SAP Solution Manager 7.2 Process Management capability, accessible via the Solution Manager Launchpad in the user menu or via tcode SM_WORKCENTER,
A sample Simple Finance project plan has been downloaded from the Roadmap Viewer and imported into the Project Management area, You can examine this sample project plan in the Project Management area.
You could even create an SAP S/4HANA instance in SAP CAL and connect it as a managed system.
Since this solution is now at support package stack 03 level, you can now import additional Best Practice content yourself via file import or by configuring the backend connections to SAP. Import is done in the Solution Administration area, also available as a tile in the Launchpad. You can now also export solution documentation content in .json format for direct editing, and import to another SAP Solution Manager 7.2 system for the first time.
Note that a dummy SAP S/4HANA system S4H has been defined in the Landscape Management Database. If you plan to connect a real SAP S/4HANA system, you can remove this dummy system and replace it with the real one.
No other configuration has been performed, but you are free to use and configure this system for evaluation of other capabilities, install SAP Notes, and make other changes as you would in any other SAP CAL system.
Support for this 30-day free trial system will take place via the SAP CAL SCN community in the same manner as other free trials: http://scn.sap.com/community/cloud-appliance-library . You can extend the use of your instance with the purchase of a standard SAP CAL monthly subscription.
The training materials for this scenario are now available on the SAP Solution Manager Early Knowledge Transfer site, located here: http://support.sap.com/ekt-solutionmanager -> SAP Solution Manager 7.2 Learning Maps -> Process Management.
We have seen a great deal of customer and partner interest in the available SAP Solution Manager 7.2 solutions since January 2016, with several thousand instances being created.
Thank you!
