#S4HANA customer series: A European Real Estate Company re-engineered its business through SAP S/4HANA

SAP S/4HANA is rapidly gaining momentum as companies operating in various industries have recognized the advantages of having a digital core to help them in their business model transformation journey. By taking the steps towards the future, these organizations unlock great potential for success in the future.
A very ambitious real estate firm that buys land, designs apartment houses and builds them, embarked on the SAP S/4HANA journey to transform itself digitally. This production company aims to reinvent the value creation chain of residential real estate industry in Europe in a very industrial way. It manages the entire building life cycle — from finding the property sites through construction and finally managing the buildings after construction and sale or rental. A relatively small company driven by innovation and immense growth objectives, this real estate enterprise chose SAP to be future ready, to make their vision of lean digital building a reality.

Being a net new SAP customer, their adoption path of SAP S/4HANA was very similar to that of a Green Field implementation. The current go-live included Engineer-to-Order production, intercompany stock transfer to capture the movement of prefabricated parts to the construction site and Core Finance. The next phase will include further application integration along with warehousing, HR and transportation.

Business Value Addition with SAP S/4HANA

With the help of SAP S/4HANA Customer Care and Regional Implementation Group (RIG) team along with a well enabled implementation partner, the customer could go-live in just two months. Since the company didn’t have any previous legacy, they just leveraged cross-industry best practices like JIT (Just-In-Time) to win in the real estate business.

This was very important for the customer as it believes in putting more effort in customizing and offering more value to customers. By using the SAP Best Practice content, the customer was able to accelerate the build phase. Furthermore, the new SAP Fiori user experience across desktops, tablets, and phones allowed better accessibility for the staff based on projects or in factories.

The real estate company chose SAP S/4HANA over other ERP solutions because it needed a compact infrastructure that could manage all functions of the development lifecycle like finance, planning, project management, and supply chain. Recognizing these complex requirements led the company to consider SAP S/4HANA to digitally remaster industry processes and continue to innovate within the digital system.

This is yet another example that proves SAP S/4HANA delivers the value needed to lead your business through the digital transformation. Find more success stories here and stay tuned for more parts of this #S4HANA customer series.
