RCD Troubleshooting

RCD Overview

Rapid Content Delivery (RCD) tool allows customers to import the latest content updates for various SAP Solution Manager Functions, such as Monitoring and Alerting, Guided Procedure, and Customer Usage Provisioning. Content updates are available in the form of Support Packages (content package) in SAP Service Marketplace. Each content package contains the latest content updates for various Solution Manager Functions.

There are a lot prerequisites to be met before we use the RCD application (For example, Import of the Certificates, Configuration of the HTTPs, Synchronous Channel, Download Service and so forth). In this blog I would like to unveil the troubleshooting report program “RCSU_PREREQ_CHECK”. This report program helps you to find the status of each and every prerequisites. Besides this would help you find the exact problem.

Checks Performed in this report:

1. Check whether the certificates are imported
2. State of HTTPS (Active or inactive)
3. The Job Run status of the “SM:RCD_CHECK_STATUS”
4. Check the OSS Note implementation status
5. Read the Notification XML from the Support Hub Infrastructure. (In case this does not work, we will not know whether we have a latest content in Support Portal)
6. Check the existence of the RFC Type H destination SAP-SUPPORT_PORTAL
7. Check whether the Path Prefix is empty in the RFC SAP-SUPPORT_PORTAL. (with path prefix, the connection will not be successful)
8. Check the Synchronous Channel. (This is the new communication channel introduced in Solution Manager 7.2 which we use it to get the URL of the support portal to download)
9. Authorization of S User (Manual Activity – This has to be verified by you) – without download authorization, you RCD cannot download the content
10. Proxy Maintenance (Manual Activity) – In case Solution Manager does not have internet access, proxy has to be maintained)
11. Configuration of Download Service (SDS_CONFIGURATION)
