Question and Answer

Q: if i have an ECC6 can i use BOC to do my financial reports? BPC is a bit costly for me so i am looking at BOC if it can help me.

A: for planning, just need to acquire the data into the system for planning.    Most of the delivered connectors will allow data acquisition

Cloud edition is first

On premise is later in 2017

Q: Can you briefly expand on Chart Enhancements: Internal and external hyperlinks based on data context

A: Create a visualization, and click on a chart, can have as a link to another location to pass the context of filters currently using

Q: any plans to support visualization extensions (add-on) ?

A: goes to APIs – embed API’s; in long-term roadmap – not expect for 6 months

A: explorer mode is available within BOC story

Q: Live connection to SAP BW, which BW version?

A: initially will be BW 7.5, SP02.  Still discussing if work with BW 7.4

A: import Excel files, and export to CSV.  Can use CTRL-C/V with planning

Q: so end users can pass values to HANA input params in story?

A: Follow up; Wave 19

Q: Is it planned to have variables based on dimensions and measures?

A: been discussed, first round is to allow asymmetrical reporting and next look at variables

Q: does live connection mean real time?

A: live connection means non-replicated

      Dear Tammy,

Thank you for writing the detailed blog, this is awesome.

I have couple of queries if you could kindly answer them pl, will be highly appreciated. Since there will be one single platform and no more traditional BI suite, below queries raised in my mind. What if Client has on-Premise BO and wish to switch to SAP BOC:

1 - Can we/client continue to leverage existing objects/reports & Dashboards on Cloud platform?

2 - Is Excel integration still there in BOC ? for Analysis for Office (AFO) specifically? There's an import functionality available & export to Excel isn't.

3 - Can we still continue to build SAP Design Studio Dashboards & SAP Lumira documents and publish them on SAP BOC?

4 - Can we have Fiori integration with BOC docs? My understanding - If we can publish SAP Design Studio Dashboards, AFO reports – we can integrate them with Fiori LaunchPad.

Hope I am not asking too much of info.

      Regards,

      Chaitanya

You can still use the on-premise tools but not on this SAP Analytics Cloud platform.

      Thank you
