Good to know when working with Dashboards – Sources

The blog http://scn.sap.com/community/cloud-for-customer/blog/2016/06/03/interactive-dashboards has provided an overview of the general capabilities of dashboards.

This blog series here is intended to offer some hands-on experiences when creating a Dashboard with drill-down/navigation possibilities. Based on a specific example with 3 report views some additional background information is explained via additional blogs, which contain some important detailed information regarding features, functions and usability.

In step 2 of the dashboard wizard, when selecting the sources for your Dashboard, you should be aware which sources are displayed:

  1. The list contains report views and not reports.
  2. The list of report views depends on your authorization.

  1. Only those views appear where the report itself is assigned to a workcenter view. This is often forgotten during implementation or testing of a new report.
  2. Please note that you should not use an ‘asterix’ for your search, instead just type your keywords.

We have created a report based on a Cloud Data Source (CDS). Report has been assigned to a workcenter. I have also created 4 report views for this report.

Is there any reason why we can't see these report views as possible source in an interactive dashboard?  Can one use reports based on a CDS for dashboards?
