SAP CodeJam on HCP at University of Notre Dame Innovation Park

On November 1st we held a SAP CodeJam for HCP App Development at Innovation Park located at the University of Notre Dame. We had a great day with participants from several University of Notre Dame majors all of whom are participating in the ND App Challenge this year.

The Notre Dame App Challenge is a first-ever event to give anyone on campus—students, faculty and staff—the chance to build their app from concept to reality, get real-world help refining their idea, and compete for over $10,000 in prizes. The Challenge started September 12th, 2016, will conclude in March 2017, and is open to all students, faculty and staff at Notre Dame. It is funded by the university and SAP is providing orchestration and technical assistance throughout the process including this special CodeJam.

Led by SAP’s Milton Chandradas, the CodeJam provided access to useful exercises and tools for building applications on the HANA Cloud Platform. Milton provided some unique exercises to illustrate how easy it is to develop mobile applications on HCP. His expert guidance was very helpful in providing students with a meaningful experience that will help them differentiate their App Challenge entries later in the process this year. Participants were actually able to build some apps during the session and all signed up for personal HCP Developer accounts.

This was a particularly valuable event in the context of the ND App Challenge and supported its goals of providing students with an extracurricular project learning opportunity, tapping into the creative innovation of students and exposing them to new technology solutions from SAP.
