SAP Fiori 2.0 now available for SAP S/4HANA

With the SAP S/4HANA 1610 release, we bring you SAP Fiori 2.0: the next significant step in our evolution of the user experience for business applications. The award-winning SAP Fiori 2.0 takes the SAP Fiori design concept to the next level and includes a delightful new visual theme, Belize. SAP Fiori 2.0 is the user experience for SAP S/4HANA – you can access all applications via the SAP Fiori launchpad, and they all have the SAP Fiori 2.0 visual theme – SAP Fiori apps as well as classic SAP GUI and WebDynpro applications.

In 2013 SAP presented the first SAP Fiori apps at SAPPHIRE Orlando. Since then, the core SAP Fiori design principles such as simplicity and role- and task-based apps have remained stable, but the design has evolved over time. In 2015, the idea for Fiori 2.0 was awarded the prestigious Red Dot design award in the category “Design Concept”; since then, our designers and engineers have been working intensely to reach today’s milestone and make it available to you, our customers and partners.

With SAP Fiori 2.0 users will benefit greatly from innovations such as the viewport, which enlarges the user’s screen real estate by adding a Me Area on the left and a Notification Area on the right, and which allows faster navigation to relevant apps, objects and actions; and from new SAP Fiori elements such as overview pages, object pages, and list reports.

With SAP Fiori 2.0 users can get their work done faster and more effectively, with faster and direct access to relevant information and apps, transparency on items needing attention and timely notifications, support in deciding what needs to be done next, and the ability to perform quick and informed actions.

If you are already an SAP S/4HANA customer, you can get SAP Fiori 2.0 by upgrading your SAP S/4HANA system to the 1610 release, and also upgrading your Front-End Server to version 3.0. Note that if you have built custom apps or defined custom themes, there are some implications which you need to be aware of and some additional activities to plan for prior to upgrading.

To give you full insight and clear guidance for the introduction of SAP Fiori 2.0, SAP has created the SAP Fiori 2.0 welcome package; your entry point for this, helping you find out more about SAP Fiori 2.0 for SAP S/4HANA, its benefits and also the implications if you upgrade, is this overview document: SAP Fiori 2.0 – What you need to know.

Hello, I seem to remember from a webinar that you can still use old transaction codes with Fiori, but I cannot find this anymore. Was this discontinued with Fiori 2.0?

      Hi Kristina,

Not only can you still use old transaction codes ("the classic UIs"), but you can simplify them using SAP screen Personas.

      Hello Kristina,
You can continue to access classic applications with SAP S/4HANA 1610 using SAP GUI for Windows, using old transaction codes. The new SAP Fiori theme is available for these classic transactions via SAP GUI for HTML. We are planning to provide the SAP Fiori theme for SAP GUI for Windows in the future.
