Hi There!  Thanks for checking out my blog.  As a Solution Manager Architect, I spend a lot of time implementing ChaRM for clients... and with lots of clients come lots of customizing requests!

I will be writing a series of How To's, based on real world situations and requests.  Hopefully they will benefit you as much as they benefited our clients!

My first blog topic is How to Change the Web link Text within ChaRM UI.  This applies for both Solution Manager 7.1 and 7.2

The standard Change and Request Management transaction types are called

Request for Change
Normal
Urgent
Admin
General

But a lot of customers have their own vernacular, and want those transaction types renamed.  Easily done!  But we have also received requests to edit the links in the Web UI to reflect the naming convention the customer uses in house.

So how can we accomplish this?

You will need to have a little understanding of the CRM Web UI structure, including the Navigation Bar Profile, and the Business Role you provide for the client.

By default the ChaRM UI looks like this:



Standard Business Role is SOLMANPRO and looks like this:



Standard Navigation Bar Profile is SOLMANPRO and looks like this:



And The UI Frame work layout is represented like this:



For starters, to make the layout of the WebUI your own, you must fully customize the Business Role. You must copy each subsection into the customer namespace first:
1. From SPRO -> Customer Relationship Management -> UI Framework -> Business Roles -> Execute Define Business Role



2. Copy Business Role to Customer Namespace

2.1 Copy SOLMANPRO -> YSOLMANPRO (or Z)



2.2 Next Further Customize and Define Business Role



3. Then Copy Navigation Bar Profile to the customer namespace



3.2  Copy SOLMANPRO -> YSOLMANPRO



4. But how to change the Text on the page Change Request Workcenter page itself?

Lets think of an example, Say our client wants to call the Urgent Change, a "Maintenance Change" instead.

4.1  Identify which section we need to edit:

Urgent Change
 is a Workcenter Group Link in the Workcenter SM-CHANGE




4.2 We need to edit our newly created Business Role YSOLMANPRO

4.2.1 Select - Adjust Work Center Group Links

4.2.2 Select SM-CHANGE SM-CM-CR

4.2.3 Adjust Link Title (Role) from Urgent Change to Maintenance Change



4.2.4  Save work to a customizing change

5. Log into ChaRM and Verify Change!



NOTE: Be sure to only change the Business role you have copied to the customer namespace, and not the Navigation Bar itself, which contains the SAP Standards!
