Prelude to TechEd Bangalore

TechEd Bangalore is like an annual pilgrimage for me. This year it’s special because of long to & fro commute befitting the journey hardship real-world pilgrims undertake with the excitement getting to know latest SAP technologies.

So here is a sneak peek from my agenda that I intend to catch up next 3 days at TechEd Bangalore.

  • Explore new stuff in Hands-on Session
  • Attend some demo sessions & strategy talks
  • Selective lecture sessions
  • Demo Jam

In case you have noticed no mention of Keynote – yes it’s not in my list as replay will be available and I need all the time in the morning to reach BIEC from other side of the city.

Wednesday 5th October

The first TechEd session will be      TEC964  Production Planning & Detailed Scheduling for SAP S/4HANA

Next will my first hands-on session  INT160    Processing Mining in SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Suite and Beyond

I am excited going through the presentation and hands-on material on the product developed by startup Celonis on HANA platform. There is a good article in SAPInsider on this Process Mining by Celonis.     >> This was good hands-on plus discussion with Tarun Kamal Khiani – Chief Product Manager SAP BPM

Another hands-on not reserved but to join if open INT162   Integrate SAP S/4HANA by Leveraging Prepackaged Content      >> This was let-down as expected functional orientation around RDS / Best Practice content activation but turned out to be hardcore HCP – Integration Services IFlow related 🙁

Otherwise join Demo Session TEC991    SAP S/4HANA Suite Procurement Integration with Ariba Network       >> Should have gone to this

Demo Jam     >> Gave a miss

Thursday 6th October

Wish to join hands-on session DEV260  Extend your SAP S/4HANA using HANA Cloud Platform

If not then go to lecture session  DMM116   Transition to SAP S/4HANA: Tools for On-Premise and Cloud Migration    focused on data migration with demos

Also planning to check out Demo Session  ITM994    Way to SAP S/4HANA Made Easy for Industries: Extended Transition Check     this should be interesting given S/4HANA 1610 ushers in Industry business functions in Oil & Gas, Retail etc.

TEC307   Embracing Digitial Transformation Journey with SAP S/4HANA

Completely revamped taking advantage of Networking & Lecture sessions till second half marathon hands-on session

NET39274      S/4HANA Cloud Implementation Experience: Guided Configuration

TEC834         Roadmap Q&A: SAP S/4HANA

Afternoon will be in a marathon 4 hour hands-on  TEC160   SAP Technology Highlights

Friday 7th October

After this check out remaining lecture session   DMM221  Embedded Analytics in SAP S/4HANA and SAP BW on HANA

then demo session  TEC988    Industries with SAP S/4HANA: Best Practices and Essential Know-How

Afternoon plan to be in 4 back to back lecture sessions

ANP105     Turning Big Data & IoT into Intelligence you can actually use

TEC114     Lessons from First Customers of SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management

TEC115     SAP S/4HANA: The Digital Core

TEC206     Extensibility Concepts for SAP S/4HANA

Not to mention meet up with old buddies (becoming less year by year with most settled outside India or shifted professionally) and hanging out in Community Clubhouse (or whatever it is called now) for a bit. Another must-do activity is to check out new SCN as mentioned in this Community Central blog.

As final preparation took time out from project work to catch up with SCN blogs announcing what’s in store, build agenda after downloading Session Catalog Excel really need power of HANA Text Analysis), writing this blog as summary of sessions to attend 😀 .

Now will be other part of getting ready with power bank charged, session agenda printout (not device-savvy, still enjoy good old paper & pen), business cards, water bottle and borrowing kids tab with session presentations loaded (no point tugging laptop when you hardly will have time / space to open it up).

See you at TechEd Bangalore!

I spend a good part of yesterday cherry picking the  sessions I plan to attend. I noticed that the mobile app is not enabled for Bangalore. Not sure why. And working with an excel sheet is not the best - given that we are all SAP Technology professional. Maybe just putting the session on a native hana system would give a much better user experience.
