SAP Activate expedites SAP S/4HANA implementations throughout the customer lifecycle by offering ready-to-run digitized business and technology processes, guided configuration and next-generation methodology.
SAP Activate builds on accelerators like SAP Best Practices that help customers get up and running quickly with pre-configured best practice scenarios and functionalities, followed up with continuous updates as new enhancements become available.
SAP Activate includes SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA, Implementation Methodology and Tools for Guided configuration.
The Implement S/4HANA with SAP Best Practices Reference Guide has been published this week and you can find it here: http://bit.ly/S4BPRefguide
This guide will help you if you need to know how to use SAP Best Practices, SAP Activate and SAP Solution Manager 7.2 to implement SAP S/4HANA on-premise or a hybrid project with cloud.
If you have general questions regarding SAP Best Practices and SAP Solution Manager 7.2, such as ‘What SAP Best Practice content is available for S/4HANA and how do I get it’, or ‘How can I use SAP Solution Manager 7.2 in my on-premise S/4HANA implementation’ or ‘What are the differences between on-premise and cloud implementations’, it’s good you start first by looking at this presentation:
If you are for example an SAP Solution Manager 7.2 administrator or are you a project team member who will use SAP Best Practices and document your implementation in SAP Solution Manager 7.2 , the detailed reference guide will provide you with guided assistance and useful information that will make your work easier.
The guide can be used by customers, partners and consultants free of charge and provides accurate and up to date detailed technical information based on what is possible with the current releases of software.
It provides granular knowledge for administrators of SAP Solution Manager 7.2, SAP Best Practices and the SAP S/4HANA systems, giving the administrators the option to use content from this guide to brief project team members and some sections can be used by project team members directly.
Although there are resources are available for each topic separately, this reference guide brings the content together in one place and describes how to use the tools and content together.
The guide provides a recommended sequence of tasks organized into the SAP Activate methodology phases. It also includes annotated demonstrations that walk you through some of the key steps in the tools.
The structure of the guide covers:
- Introduction: Key concepts, overview of scenarios, different options and overall benefits
- Discover: What resources are available before and SAP S/4HANA project starts
- Prepare. Infrastructure is set-up and selected SAP Best Practices are activated
- Explore: Workshops define the solution and use SAP Best Practices processes
- Realize: Implementation is undertaken tracking all work in SAP Solution Manager
- Deploy: SAP Solution Manager is used in the production cutover
- Run: SAP Solution Manager is used to monitor and optimize the solution
The SAP Activate methodology replaces ASAP as SAP’s implementation methodology for SAP S/4HANA and all other SAP solutions.
There are generic/general variants of the methodology that are not software solution specific and there are solution specific variants e.g. the SAP S/4HANA roadmap.
The methodology content is organized into a three level hierarchy: phases, deliverables and tasks. Each node in the hierarchy has a description that provides SAP’s advice and guidance. Each node also links to documentation accelerators that may be generic e.g. an open issues template or solution specific e.g. administration guide for SAP S/4HANA on-premise.
The Implement S/4HANA with SAP Best Practices Reference Guide is designed to complement the SAP S/4HANA on-premise implementation roadmap that is available here.
