This week I am attending my first ever DSAG-Jahreskongress which is the main annual conference of the German SAP user group. My first event day was fully packed with keynote presentations and expert sessions. I want to specifically share some insights on one topic where I attended this expert session: Navigate with SAP Enterprise Support value maps through innovation and support topics in a goal-oriented way. As you can see the room was fully packed with customers:
Some of the session participants didn’t know the value map concept in detail. Others were not even aware that customers can access them free of charge as they are covered by their SAP Enterprise Support maintenance contract. So let me reiterate the most important points from today’s session.
First of all, what are SAP Enterprise Support value maps? They help you quickly identify the relevant SAP Enterprise Support services, tools, and expertise for your business needs. And there may be a need for that because as of today there are more than 1,100 services and best practices available as part of SAP Enterprise Support – you cannot know all of them. The value maps are one key starting point – available for numerous topics and with an objective-based approach – that help you navigate through the offerings to identify the ones that are really relevant for your specific setup and use case. In short, value maps let you know what you don’t know, detecting the right services that are providing additional value to you. The value maps are powered by the SAP Enterprise Support Academy which is SAP’s key program to enable our customers to empower their people and thereby helping them to reduce operational costs and focus more of their energies on business innovations.
Once you’ve picked the value maps that are useful depending on your business needs you can leverage the guided approach to discover your individual roadmap including the relevant SAP Enterprise Support services. Value maps are based on SAP Jam which is SAP’s cloud-based social collaboration platform that connects you directly with SAP experts but also with other peers. Each value map is moderated and maintained by SAP support experts who you can get in touch with to obtain guidance or clarify on open questions. Lastly, value maps are also a great tool to empower your staff because you can utilize them to build the knowledge and skills you need to successfully manage your transformation to the digital economy.
What I certainly liked the most about today’s session was that besides our SAP expert, there was also a German customer on stage who provided detailed insights how his company has been successfully leveraging value maps to support them with their SAP HANA project. The close collaboration between the Global Enterprise Support & Preferred Care organization and the value map team made this success possible.
