Documentation for BW/4HANA – revamped and simplified

SAP BW/4HANA has now been released and includes a complete set of new and updated documentation.

We rebuilt the structure of the SAP BW/4HANA documentation completely, to match the overall redesign of the architecture of SAP BW/4HANA. As simplification is one of the focus areas of SAP BW/4HANA, we also focused on simplifying the documentation structure of our application help. The application help is tailor-made to reflect the new architecture of a Data Warehouse with a SAP HANA database.

This is what it looks like:

Overview

The overview gives you an idea what SAP BW/4HANA is all about.

The overview section provides you with information about the main concepts, such as the layer architecture for data warehouses, key areas and tools in BW/4HANA.

Modeling Section

The modeling section describes all the objects in which data can be stored and how objects can be combined.

Data Acquisition Section

The data acquisition section provides you with descriptions of all the other objects, which are needed for the ETL process.

Analysis Section

The analysis section is all about analytic functions and how to model an analytic query.

Agile Information Section

The agile Information section describes how key business users can create ad-hoc scenarios for rapid prototyping using BW Workspaces.

Configuration, Operation, Administration and Interfaces Sections

Finally, the configuration, operation, administration and interfaces sections provide useful information mainly for administrators of SAP BW.

Furthermore, there are several guides available to help you understand what BW/4HANA is all about, how to install it and what needs to be considered in terms of security:

  • SAP BW/4HANA Feature Scope Description
  • Master Guide
  • Installation Guide for SAP BW/4HANA Modeling Tools
  • Security Guide
