As this customer was new to SAP, its adoption path was a new implementation. The new core was live in less than eight months. The pharmaceutical company reported its net sales growth of 3.0% and adjusted the Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) to 25.2% for the first quarter of 2016.
Significant added business value
The implementation consisted of a manual configuration, which means that there were no SAP Best Practices used, with Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Material Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD) and Funds Management (FM) functionalities. The customer’s goal is to substitute a competitor solution as part of their simplification strategy to optimize their business process. After 72 test scenarios, it ultimately went live on July 4, 2016. With the implementation of SAP S/4 HANA, the company now aims to secure and strengthen its position in the market by serving an increasingly strong innovation agenda across the globe, delivering better customer service, enhancing productivity, and creating more shareholder value.
After the move to SAP S/4HANA the customer was able to facilitate several different business values. One major difference to before was the collaboration between areas, which is much more sufficient than before, because of the leveraged real-time communication between people, devices and business networks. Also data sources can now be accessed in real-time.
With SAP Fiori the user experience within the company has been simplified dramatically, which also contributed to a better collaboration and more efficient work flows. And last but not least does one centralized information repository, as a single source of truth, and with no redundancies help everyone to find the right information at any time. This not only reduces the data footprint, but also supports all employees in having to the same information at hand.
