Ideas.sap.com/SAPASE is now public!!!

A number of folks pointed out that getting an “S” number is a bit of a hassle if you are an independent contractor or just buried too deep in the DBA staff to gain access……..   So we tried to figure out ways….and you know what??   They were right!!!!    It was more than a hassle – it was just plain impossible.

Soooooo……as a result, we opted to make ideas.sap.com/SAPASE public – meaning you do NOT need an “S” number – but you will need to register.   If you haven’t registered and don’t have an S number, simply go to ideas.sap.com/sapase and look in the upper right corner for a login/register link

After it opens, you look near the bottom for the Register button:

It will then open the usual 200 question form asking for your next of kin, bank account balance……etc.

On a more serious note, that does mean that we will be policing the site more closely.   So, if some genius decides to put a snarky idea in that makes no sense at all (e.g. “use <competitor>”) or is offensive, we will remove the post….and yes, blacklist the person from posting anything in the future (we have the technology to do this).

You will also notice that we tend to keep a close eye on the ideas – we may accept ones that already have requirements for even if the prerequisite vote level hasn’t been reached – that doesn’t mean you can’t still vote on them.    Also, we will try to respond to ideas with questions, etc. to get clarity of the scope of the idea as well as how users might deal with potentially harmful situations (e.g. changing default values for parameters).   The point is that anyone can comment – so even if it isn’t your idea, if you have input to the comments we post, don’t be bashful – post them.  The main idea is to get a free flow of ideas about features that would be useful.   However, please recognize that some ideas – even if they get 200 votes – are likely not going to be accepted due to the product focus/direction or corporate direction.   If that is the case, we will let folks know.

See you there!

You know, I really wish I controlled our web site.....but I don't.    But I will ask the powers that be to do this.   ....and on the new SCN as well.
