At SAP, embracing differences is one of the key employee behaviors we value. And diversity and inclusion of all kinds are central to that point. It is critical for our business that we draw on the unique perspectives that all employees bring to the workplace. Diversity has long been credited for enabling increased innovation, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and operating income results. Gender diversity is one of SAP’s four strategic pillars when it comes to diversity & inclusion.

In an effort to increase the number of women in technology, we are doing less talk and more action. As a proof of our commitment to action, we have a goal of 25% of women in management at SAP by 2017. In fact, the percentage of women in management positions has already increased from just 18% in 2010 to 24.1% at the end of Q2 2016.

In addition, SAP recently became the first tech company in North America to achieve the EDGE (Economic Dividends from Gender Equality) certification, which we are also actively pursuing globally this year; we host a monthly Women’s Professional Growth Series; have an incredibly active Business Women’s Network with close to 8,000 members; run the Leadership Excellence Acceleration Program (LEAP) to offer high-potential women from the Sales and Services organizations intensive paths to promotion; and we host numerous global events focused on women’s empowerment, such as our “Power to Lead” event that was held in Walldorf, Germany just last month.

SAP is deeply committed to women in tech and we want to further encourage more gender diversity in our talent community, applications, and general workforce. Therefore, SAP is proud to release our newest animated video aimed at women in tech called “The Path - Power to Be Yourself”. Project led by our very own Employer Branding Team, with a vast array of input from various other teams, the video inspires candidates and employees alike to know their strengths, tap into them, and recognize they have the skills to move themselves to the next level professionally. This ultimately helps our employees feel motivated to take risks. Through this video, we wanted to convey through a quirky animated style that SAP gives our employees the confidence, visibility, and resources they need to be successful.

“'The Path - Power to Be Yourself' video captures what each of us want every day. To show up at work and have equal opportunities for success, to have our unique perspective not only be heard, but valued. SAP’s workplace is incredibly diverse. There is a tremendous amount of power in pulling on all of these unique perspectives and to create innovative products for our customers and the world.” nicolemccabe, Senior Director of Gender Equality within our Global Diversity & Inclusion Office.

Although we have a company-wide goal to support more women in the technology space globally, both women and men at SAP are encouraged to collaborate closer, create a positive culture together, and work on mutual understanding and comradery. We believe “The Path - Power to Be Yourself" animated video resonates with both women and men with neither gender feeling alienated.

We are proud that we are not just preaching diversity and career development but we’re actually doing something about it. SAP demonstrates our commitment by changing behaviors, creating a positive culture, and providing leadership to those who have been historically at a disadvantage or underrepresented in certain fields.

As a man, I’m personally so proud of SAP for this initiative as I have always been a staunch supporter of gender equality. At SAP, I see and experience first-hand on a daily basis that SAP truly cares about its employees and fits my ethical values to not only help the world run better, but to also to improve people’s lives.

Whether you’re a man or a woman, I think the last lines of “The Path - Power to Be Yourself” video will resonate with everyone who works here when the narrator says SAP is, “Where my ideas are valued. Where I can thrive...This is where I can find the real... me.”
