[Official Name Change] SAP Landscape Virtualization Management (SAP LVM) is renamed to SAP Landscape Management (SAP LaMa)

Hi There,

We’ve changed our name!

Some may ask, why? and some may say, what’s in the name? so lemme explain …

[Old name] SAP Landscape Virtualization Management (SAP LVM)

The word “virtualization” in the old product name was creating a bit of confusion besides, we wanted the product name to reflect what it really does.

For example, some of our customers thought SAP LVM:

  • is a Virtualization Manager, e.g. VMware vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V etc. (No, it’s not; however it compliments these solutions)
  • can only manage virtualized SAP landscapes (No, that’s not true; it can manage all types of landscapes)

It is an SAP Landscape Management solution that can manage all types of environments (physical, virtualized, private cloud or hybrid) and helps simplify, automate and centralize the management and operations of your SAP system and landscapes including SAP HANA based landscapes.

Hence, the name change.

[New name] SAP Landscape Management (SAP LaMa)

Please Note:

The official documentation and SAP Notes will be adjusted with the next product release (i.e. SAP Landscape Management 3.0). RTC for release 3.0 is currently planned for November 2016.

      Hi Kappor,

My question is :  SAP LaMa complements the solutions as " ...  VMware vCenter; Microsoft PowerShell etc ... "  or  can totally replaces these solutions for SAP and No-SAP solutinos  ?

      Thanks in Advance,

      Martinho Freitas

      Hi Martinho,

That's right, SAP LaMa complements solutions like VMware vCenter and Microsoft Hyper-V etc and helps orchestrate/automate SAP operations on top.
