If you are an SAP application developer, or are interested in building Web applications, we have a CodeJam just for you.

On August 30, 2016, the Developer Relations group at SAP will be holding a CodeJam at our Newtown Square office, right outside of Philadelphia.  The topic for our latest CodeJam is developing a Java ODATA backend in HANA Cloud Platform.

The entire CodeJam is run on SAP HANA Cloud Platform (or HCP), using Eclipse as a development tool   The CodeJam will bootstrap you to show how your organization can use HANA Cloud Platform to create RESTful web services. The REST services we will demonstrate will send JSON or ODATA out to a client (a web application).  We will also cover security authorizations, and other details of developing in HCP.

This is a great start, as we will be learning how to implement a backend system (and where all the controller logic will go) if you decide to build your own web application.  It's also a great lead-in to any SAP UI5 class, as UI5 is one possible front end for this back end service.

Come join us in the Newtown Square office on August 30.  Registration is limited, so sign up soon!

Requirements:

  • A laptop
  • A browser (preferably Chrome)
  • The ability to run new software (we will distribute a copy of Eclipse and Java for your personal laptop)
  • An interest in developing for the web!

Lunch and snacks are on us, so just come over and learn something new!
