The Joy of Human Resources: This Week in ASUG’s HR Community
This week I stopped by one of my local go-tos for a drink and a bite to eat and noticed everyone staring blankly upwards at the TV screens. They weren’t watching a big game or the latest news—everyone was fixated on Bob Ross’s “The Joy of Painting”. I later learned the iconic show was recently released on Netflix for audiences to paint along with. While our jobs may be challenging and stressful at times, they come along with a sense of accomplishment and community. Like a digital, 21st century Bob Ross, ASUG hopes to help you create a picture of success and make the process as enjoyable as possible through our booming HR Community.
Calling All Customers: What’s Your Beef? – Of the many Bob Ross quotes I will spew throughout this blog, one of my favorites is, “We don’t make mistakes, we just have happy accidents”. While they may not feel so “happy” at the time, your challenges and mistakes matter to us and will help us and SAP grow to support you. Join this discussion to learn from other HR professionals and our in-house experts.
Get to Know More about SAP® SuccessFactors® Presentations Solution – “Water’s like me. It’s lazy. Boy, it always looks for the easiest way to do things,” says Mr. Ross as a small brook materializes on his canvas. While we don’t encourage laziness, looking for the easiest way to do things can save us all time and money. SAP SuccessFactors has a feature that blends PowerPoint with live data, so channel the water and create talent review presentations that just flow. Join this presentation to see how it works and what it can do.
Improve Payroll Validation Through SAP Payroll Control Center – While free spirits like Bob Ross grace our television screens, there is always a structure or system behind them. Ross often joked about the producers and politics of being on a 30-minute television program. Even your most creative employees need to get paid, and luckily there is a happy little solution called the SAP Payroll Control Center. Learn more by attending this webcast or catching the “rerun” later on.
HR Compensation Special Interest Group Town Hall (July) – We are an HR community: We collaborate and help each other in order to do our jobs better, faster, and more accurately. This spirit of collaboration is what makes our Town Halls so special. Dial in on July 28 to hear all about Executive Review and speak your mind. In the words of Ross, “You can have anything you want in the world—once you help everyone around you get what they want”. While the word “anything” may be a stretch, we can sure accomplish common goals through forums like this.
HR Face-to-Face at a City Near You – Discounted and Complimentary Events – If we can take anything from “The Joy of Painting”, it’s the fact that you can learn incredible things from someone even if you can’t meet them face-to-face. I’m sure you have all seen this in the HR community, where knowledge is shared via blogs, discussions, and webcasts. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take the time to engage with us in-person at one of our many events. Check out this list of upcoming events, get a great deal, and meet us in person!
I hope you were as happy reading this as I was writing this. ASUG’s HR community can be a happy little place where magical things can happen (trying to channel Bob Ross there). I’ll leave you with this nugget of Bob Ross wisdom: “You can do anything you want to do. This is your world”. Have a great, relaxed weekend, and be on the lookout for next week’s recap.
