Once again I was positively surprised by the value, which our partner ecosystem contributes to SAP ByD innovation.

During our last webinar I had the privilege to moderate another webinar call to partners, this time with Richard Haugen, VP of Value Engineering, from Navigator (USA). During the session it was stressed the value, SAP ByD brings to companies who decided to adopt the Cloud Business Transformation and make out of it a great success.

At the presentation and demo, attendees had the chance to hear how customers truly use ByD as its digital core ERP system and keep the integration with other services providers. The list Richard shared with us is worth to name as it reflects market reality and brings to the point, at least in the USA market:

  • e-commerce/ eBay, Amazon, SAP Hybris, Magento or Shopify
  • credit card/ authorize.net, PayFlowPro or USA ePay
  • Expense/ Concur
  • Marketing/Marketo, HubSpot
  • Product Configuration/ CIS Configurator
  • EDI/DiCentral, SPS Commerce
  • Planning/ Adaptive Insights, SAP Cloud for Planning
  • Shipping/ pacejet, iAbol, ShipWorks
  • Tax Service/Avalara, Vertex
  • CRM/SalesForce.com

How SAP ByD supports all the integration or vertical scenarios requested by the market? It was clear to the architects of ByD that leading companies live and operate in business networks. Therefore, they need an open business process architecture which crosses company boundaries.

I believe tools like the  Cloud Applications Studio  and the published  Web Services have dramatically contributed to partners ability leverage fully integration and close any functional gaps.

In our case this time, Navigator acknowledged both facts and have proactively worked to adapt to customer requirements.  This lead to the development of the  iConnect approach. It simplifies and scales  in any end-to-end scenario any customer in certain verticals would require.

Would any of our SAP developers ever know that SAP ByD is a solution which can be offered for Defence Contractors who need to be DCAA (Defence Contract Audit Agency) compliant? Well, it is here today.

For instance, Navigator innovated using the platform services to embed DCAA/Indirect rates Module into ByD UI, properly segregates direct and indirect cost without any intense manual labour, supports interim and final indirect rates,  record contract terms and flow down required contract clauses to sub-contractors. And all by using a combination of vertical knowledge, ByD tool and its web services. Chapeu!

Richard shared with us one example of Defense contractor requirements (micro-vertical) on which developers and consultants assure customer success.  This example serves to show that other customer requirements on different verticals have been addressed in Medical Devices, Oilfield Services, Distribution, BioPharma or Automotive Parts Manufacturing by applying the same approach as the DCCA scenario.

It reminds any of us, once more, SAP ByD and ecosystem innovation successfully contribute to product success.
