Use SAP HCP IoT Services and HCP Integration Services (HCI-DS) to get your Sensor Data – Part 3

In this blog i will complete the scenario and will show you how to install the SAP Data Service Agent and connect them wit your HCP to fetch the data.

Please check also the prevous blogs for more details:

Use SAP HCP IoT Services and HCP Integration Services (HCI-DS) to get your Sensor Data – Part 1

Use SAP HCP IoT Services and HCP Integration Services (HCI-DS) to get your Sensor Data – Part 2

Prerequisite

To enable the scheduler on the SAP HCI DS you need to install the SAP Data Services Agent on your OnPremise System.

You can get the Software by clicking on the link in det Agents tab:

Installation

After you have downloaded the executable for the OS you can install the Agent:

Setup

After the installation is completed you can configure the DS agent.

agentconfig1.PNG

Enter:

  • Username (email)
  • Password (suser pw)
  • Path to the AgentConfig File

You can download the config file during the creation process of the agent in HCI DS:

After the connection between your OnPremise agent and the HCI DS you can see the green light in the agent tab of HCI DS:

Scheduler

Now we can go back to the Projects tab and can define a new scheduler to fetch our data from SAP HCP.

Scheduler configuration:

Activate the scheduler:

activatescheduler.PNG

Now we execute our newly created scheduler by selecting “Run Now”:

In the Task History you can see the status of the execution:

Result:

The IoT data is fetched on the OnPrem filesystem:

      Great Blog !

Could you also address if HCI DS offer Teradata connectivity.

If it does let me know what database type i need to choose.

I couldn't find any Teradata database type in the drop down.

      Hi Janani,
We just added Teradata support last weekend (Dec 9, 2016). So if you check again, or chek out the PAM, you will see Teradata is supported as source now.

      Thanks,
      Ben.

Hi Fabian, great blog ! I’m product manager for HCI-DS, so really appreciate you writing a blog on this product.

But did you know we now also have HANA SDI (smart data integration) available on HCP ? You could see it as a successor of HCI-DS for one specific use case: loading data into HANA on HCP. So exactly what you are doing...  SDI provides more adapters (e.g. Twitter or Hadoop), more transformations and provides real-time replication on top of what HCI-DS provides. And best of all: it's covered under the same license as HCI-DS, so if you have a HANA database on HCP, you can start using it. Check out my blog for more details:

      Thanks,
