a while ago, we had introduced the concept of restricting the number of displayed documents in the SAP TM collaboration portal by defining a number of days in the past, which is used during data selection as a start date from which on we read and display the documents. Details can be found in this blog: New performance notes available for SAP TM collaboration portal document lists
However, this concept does not help to boost performance in use cases where the carrier wants to display historical data, e.g. if a carrier wants to check which freight quotations they had created and got awarded only in January of the current year. In order to accomplish this, the carrier had to maintain the number of days in user settings accordingly so that all freight quotations starting on January 1st of the current year would be selected. By this, also the freight quotations with start dates from February on and all future dates would be selected, which could again result in a big amount of data, which would not be very user friendly and also data selection could get slow.
In order to offer a solution for this and to improve performance for selection of old data, we introduced new date filter capabilities. With these, it is now possible to define a specific date range per area (freight RFQs, freight quotations, freight orders for execution, …) by which the selection of business documents is restricted. This selection is independent from the defined user settings, it is not stored in personalization and is intended as an ad-hoc filter for the rare situations in which the carrier wants to filter for documents of a specific period in time. With this, it is very easy to for instance search for all freight quotations with a start date in January of this year.
The following SAP Notes introduce this new concept:
