SAP INFORMATION PLATFORM SERVICES INSTALLATION

Information platform services is a flexible, scalable, and reliable solution for delivering powerful, interactive reports to end users via any web application—intranet,Internet or corporate portal. Whether it is used for distributing weekly sales reports, providing customers with personalized service offerings, or integrating critical information into corporate portals.



SAP IPS INSTALLATION

Click on InstallIPS.exe to start the Installation. If you click on setup.exe you have to enter the Product key manually. But it will come automatically when you click on InstallIPS.exe.

It will prompt you to select the language for installation.

It will check all the prerequisites for installation of SAP IPS. If any critical prerequisite is missing then that first. Then only proceed further.

Welcome screen will appear to start the installation.

Click on Accept the License Agreement and click next.

Automatically Product key will be there. Click Next.

Select the Language you want to install for User to Work with.

Select the type of installation you want to do.

Full : It will install all the server component on a single host.

Custom/Expand : This option is used when you are installing it in a Distributed fashion.

Web Tier : You can select this option when you want to install JAVA web application server.

Enter the destination where you want to install.

You can install the SAP IPS with the default database.The database will be install during the installation. Sybase SQL Anywhere database will be installed.

If you want to use an Existing database . You have to manually install the database first. Then you can proceed further.

Select the database type you want to create CMS repository.

It is used to store information for IPS such as user,authorization,configuration, etc…

Select the database type you want to create Auditing Database.You can also ignore Auditing Database if you want to configure later.


It is used to keep track of all the day to day activities.

Install the Tomcat Java Web Application Server.

Select the Configure and install Subversion.

It is used to keep a record of Revision of Configuration and other files. If you want to go to any back configuration in the past . You can go that version.

SIA is configured to start automatically with the Operating System.It is used to start CMS .It is use to retrieve the information from CMS which all servers are being used.

It runs on port 6410.

CMS runs on default port 6400.

Enter the password for Administrator User. This user can do all the activities.

Enter the repository for CMS .

We have created the repository for CMS And Audit.


STEPS TO CREATE REPOSITORY:

Select System DSN-> Click ADD

Enter the name of Repository and SQL Server .

Click Next.

Enter the Authenticity of  SQL Server.


You can either give WINDOWS Authentication OR SQL Server Authentication.

Click Next.

It shows the detail of the repository which will be created.

Click on Test Data Source.

The data source is created and tested successfully.

It shows the default port for Tomcat Server.

Click Next.

Repository will be created for Subversion to record of Configuration activites.

If you want SAP IPS with Solution Manager.

If you want to connect SAP IPS with Introscope Enterprise Manager to generate report.

Click Next to begin the Installation.

Perform the Post Activities after installation.

      Great document! Can I install IPS without CMS, cause we do not have BI/BO?
