SAP BusinessObjects Cloud – Setup Connection to Remote HANA Systems via Apache Reverse Proxy
Update Oct 11, 2016: with the introduction of Simple (Friendly) URL to SAP BusinessObjects Cloud in the recent release, significant architectural changes have been brought into the SAP BusinessObjects Cloud (BOC) landscape that have implications on the reverse proxy configuration. I have written a new blog post that covers the necessary changes. The scenario in this blog and how-to guide stays valid, but the reverse proxy settings are impacted. Check out the new blog for more details: What’s Changed – Setup Remote HANA Connection with SAML SSO in SAP BusinessObjects Cloud (link)
A few months ago, I published a how-to guide on setting up connections from SAP BusinessObjects Cloud to remote SAP HANA systems via SAP Web Dispatcher as a reverse proxy: How to Setup Connection to a Remote HANA System… | SCN. Since then, a lot of customers have asked if they could use a different reverse proxy such as Apache, so I’ve written another end-to-end how-to guide on setting up remote HANA connections in SAP BusinessObjects Cloud via Apache reverse proxy:

If you are new to the topic, take a look at this great article Remote data access security explained written by my colleague Greg Wcislo that explains the concept and benefits of live HANA connection.
I hope you will like it. Happy reading 🙂
Till next time.
@Dong,
I face a problem when configuring pass rule to remote hana system based on the guide:
In step 23, <HANA_PATH>, in this example it's righana2. Is it self defined? Or it's defined in Hana?
It is self-defined. You can use any path that does not conflict with the paths used in BOC web content.
@Dong, Our team has the requirement of connecting on-premise HANA XSA system to BOC. Is that supported using this approach or any other approaches like oData or direct connectivity?
I have followed the steps mentioned here to connect to BOC. I could establish connection between reverse proxy and BOC and reach login page, but once I try logging in, it gets redirected to an error page.
Hello,
Is this guide still working? because I get the message "HTTP Status 422 - Unable to verify login context" when I try to log in to SAP Analytics Cloud
