The Leaders@SAP campaign is a series of personal stories that give you a look at our inspiring leadership at SAP.

This week's story comes from Barbara Trentini, SAP Consultant - EMEA.

Giving freedom and offering shelter, that’s what I try to do as a team manager. After having spent several years in application consulting, I took over a technology consulting team two years ago. I asked myself if I would be able to gain their trust without having the technological depth they have. But it was not my task as a team manager to engage with the team on technological topics:  they are the experts, they are the technological leaders and as such they want to act on their own responsibility and initiative.

That’s the trust I give to them. What they expect from me instead is advice and encouragement when sometimes handling difficult situations, they want an open and authentic dialogue, they ask for transparency and appreciation, they look for someone caring and backing them when needed.

That’s how we build trust for each other and work together as a highly motivated team of amazing talents.

Stay tuned for our next installment of Leaders@SAP!
