I am working on a requirement in GTS system, wherein data from an Excel sheet (spreadsheet) has to be uploaded to an internal table. In the ECC system, I have several function modules that will allow me to do the same. None of those are available in the GTS system. It will be helpful if SAP copies such essential stuff to all newer systems with the same name as in ECC, don't know why it is not that way.
I searched on SCN for about 3 days searching for methods to bring spreadsheet data into internal table. All posts suggested function modules in ECC, cl_frontend_services=>gui_upload or saving my spreadsheet to tab delimited file (.txt) and using gui_upload. No, I want the same functionality of ECC function modules in GTS too. I started searching the list of function modules in GTS. Found 3 of them:
CNV_10993_EXCEL_TO_IN
CNV_10940_EXCEL_TO_IN
UPLOAD_XLS_FILE_2_ITAB
All of them are in the "Not Released" status.
As of now I am using CNV_10993_EXCEL_TO_IN for my requirement. Am not sure of the consequences of using a function module that is not released.
If any of you know some other way of uploading spreadsheet data into GTS or the consequences of using a "Not released" function module, please let me know.
