Easy method to upload Exam questions in Learning Management System(LMS):

Using Question Import/Export, you can migrate questions between development, test, and production environments. If, for example, you want to move questions from a development environment to a test environment, simply export the questions from the development environment. You then move the export file to the test environment and import it into test.

Think about the scenario you need to create 500, 1000 or more questions for Exams. Generally, it takes lot of time to create questions one by one in the system. What is the other simple and easy alternative that reduces turn around time for creating questions, should we use Question Import Tool? Initially a lot of us will think yes, we can easily import questions using Question Import/Export Tool…however, before we say ‘Question Import/Export Tool’ is the solution to import 500 or 1000 questions at a time, think about the format that Question Import/Export Tool accepts.

To understand the ‘Question Import/Export’ tool format, go to LMS system – Content – Questions, create questions and save. Then, go back to the Content – Tools – Question Import/Export tool – Export Questions – The system downloads XML zip file.

It means whenever you want to Import 500 or 1000 questions at a time using Question Import/Export tool, you need to have questions created in XML format. It is not easy to create all the 500 or 1000 questions in XML format and you will come across many errors while creating or importing those questions.

The simplest way is to create and import bulk questions using the following.

STEP 1: Download and run the Question Tool Installer

STEP 2: Open the “SF Question Import Tool”, update the ‘Question_Import.csv’ with questions details and save the file at the same place(Attached the sample file).
