SAP Smart Business Service Roles

In previous article How to Subscribe to SAP Smart Business Service, I explained how you can subscribe Smart Business Service.

In this article, I will explain what are different roles related to Smart Business and how it can be used to control access to Smart Business apps.

SAP Smart Business Services involves following roles

  • Services.SmartBusinessAdministrator
  • Services.SmartBusinessAlertSubscriber
  • Services.SmartBusinessModeler

After subscribing to Smart Business Service, click on “Smart Business Service (Roles & Destinations)” to see the roles.

Once Smart Business is subscribed, 3 corresponding front-end roles are also created under HANA Cloud Portal.

  • SmartBusinessAdministrator
  • SmartBusinessAlertSubscriber
  • SmartBusinessModeler

These roles can be used to control access to Smart Business apps.

SmartBusinessAdministrator/ Services.SmartBusinessAdministrator

This role is required to access Smart Business Administrator App – Configure Business Systems.

SmartBusinessAlertSubscriber/ Services.SmartBusinessAlertSubscriber

This role is required to access Smart Business Alerting App – Manage Smart Business Alerts.

SmartBusinessModeler/ Services.SmartBusinessModeler

This role is required to access Smart Business Modeler App – KPI Workspace, Create KPI, Create Evaluation, Configure KPI Tiles, Configure Drilldown, Manage KPI Associations, and Smart Business Content Transport

Note: Both front-end and service roles are required to access an app. In case only front-end role is assigned user will be able to see the tile but will get 403 error when tile is clicked.

For example, if “SmartBusinessModeler” role is assigned but “Services.SmartBusinessModeler” is not assigned, user will be able to see modeler tiles but will get error when tile is clicked.

Note: A complete implementation guide on Smart Business Service is also available at SAP-Press.

      Hi Jack,

      Thanks.

The destination which are to be used by Smart Business must follow some naming convention. The name should be BusinessSystem01 … BusinessSystem10.

      Raja,

I created a new Destination for my Tenant called BusinessSystem01 ( BusinessSystem00 was already present). Yet both are not getting listed in the source System. Can you suggest a solution. Thread opened for issue Missing Source System when Configuring KPI for Smart Business - HCP

      Hi Avishek,

You have to configure the Business System  before you can use it.

To configure the Business System, you need to go to "Configure Service" --> Configure Business System".

      Regards,

      Lucky
