Do you have a great business idea but you don’t know how to put it into action? Or maybe you’d like to learn entrepreneurial skills that could help you come up with a business idea? Why not take one small step towards turning your idea into action by joining the Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) MOOC on openSAP!

Enabling Entrepreneurs to Shape a Better World is a six week course, provided free of charge, featuring entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurship experts sharing their experiences from around the globe. How can you combine solving a societal problem with entrepreneurial means? With innovative ideas and the right tools to implement them! In this course, Enabling Entrepreneurs to Shape a Better World, you’ll get to meet some of the world’s famous entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs including Alexander Osterwalder, Nick Allardice and Muhammad Yunus and experts like Hedda Pahlson-Moller, Bill Liao, and many more.

The course will guide you through the process of turning your idea into a reality through the eyes of some of most successful entrepreneurs from around the globe. For example, Muhammed Yunus set up the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh in 1974 and started providing loans of US$27 to poor families in order to give them a chance to make their own profit. The Grameen Bank is still in business and in 2006, the Nobel Peace Prize was jointly awarded to Muhammed Yunus and the Grameen Bank.

This course will begin with a look at social entrepreneurship today and focus on current problems in Germany, China, and Mexico. These problem cases will focus on migration at local, regional, and national levels, and how social action and leadership can build upon the positives of, and alleviate some of the unique challenges faced with mass migration. In week two, you’ll learn about skill building, design thinking and lean start-up method. In the following weeks, the course will focus on ideation and business modelling, preparation and testing, storytelling and motivating, and scaling sustainably.

Enabling Entrepreneurs to Shape a Better World will run over a six week period with new content released each week. As a learner, you’re invited to take part in our discussion forum where you can discuss the content and ideas with peers and ask the experts for their input. There is also an option to take part in a coaching track where you will be placed in a global group with peers and complete group exercises.

The course is provided free of charge and all you need to sign up is a valid email address. If you would like to earn a Record of Achievement, simply complete the assignments before the deadline on a weekly basis.
