Announcing General Availability (GA) of SAP Fiori Cloud Edition!

Following a successful controlled availability program, we are excited to announce the general availability of SAP Fiori, cloud edition (SFCE) for productive use!

SAP Fiori, cloud edition, offers simple deployment for the SAP Fiori user experience (UX) through cloud services running on SAP HANA Cloud Platform (HCP). You get a full demo-to-production environment to experience, extend, and run SAP Fiori apps and SAP Fiori launchpad in the cloud while consuming business data securely from your on-premise SAP Business Suite software in a hybrid architecture. It is delivered with selected SAP Fiori apps across lines of business covering the most common self-service scenarios.

With the release of SFCE in an unrestricted shipment, we are very happy to include SAP HANA Cloud Platform, OData providing (also known as GWaaS). I know that many of you were waiting for this component for some time… and here it is!

We recognized early on that mobile is a required use case for the SAP Fiori apps. We are working these days on providing extended mobile capabilities for SAP Fiori running on HANA Cloud Platform with SAP Fiori mobile service. SAP Fiori mobile service is planned to allow you to optimize SAP Fiori apps running on the Cloud for mobile performance and productivity – simplifying the way you package, customize, secure, connect, test, distribute, and monitor SAP Fiori mobile apps. Learn more here.

Learn more about SAP Fiori, cloud edition on SCN and in the documentation. If you are attending ASUG Annual Conference 2016, don’t miss the UX pre-conference seminar to learn more.

And with GWaaS, or HCP oData Provisioning (that really needs a name change!) - well done to you all, I look forward to using it 🙂

Simon Kemp - we did a name change: HCP Odata provisioning 😉

I notice it is still called "HCI OData Provisioning" on the Trial Landscape. Is there any difference (e.g. is HCP OData provisioning in GA different from what's on trial?), or is this just something that hasn't quite caught up with the change?

Not quite caught up with the change.  But what started as GWaaS became HCI ODP which then became HCP ODP.

      Cheers, Mike

(HCI OData Provisioning) == (Gateway-as-a-Service) == (HCP OData provisioning). The right name to be used now is HCP OData provisioning.

It's a good job you announced this on March 31st and not on April 1st... otherwise we might all think you were just joking! 😀

You just got in on time!

Hi Nagesh Caparthy and Uma Anbazhagan,

We are working on adding SAP Fiori, cloud edition to the HCP Innovation pack for SAP PartnerEdge for Application Development.

No target date is set and I will send out an update when it is available.

Do you have a specific use case for this solution or are you simply interested in an evaluation?

      Regards,

      Amir.

      Hi Amir,

Thanks for getting back. We mostly develop Mobile solutions and we are looking for HCI / HCP oData provisioning along with Fiori Cloud in our development road map. Since I saw the announcement, wanted to get this in productive mode and start building cloud based solutions.

If there is any evaluation version please let us know.

      Regards,

      Nagesh

      Hi Aviad,

I am not able to see HCI ODP in my fiori demo cloud edition account, but this was available in my normal developer account.

I go to services in HCC from profile -> manage sites ->userful links -> hana cloud cockpit -> Services

Here I dont see any HCP ODP or HCI odp. 🙁

      Regards,

      Tejas

HCP ODP is not (yet) available in the SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition. We are discussing it internally. For now HCP ODP is available for trial purposes (only) on the HCP trial landscape (and of course on the productive accounts once you have license).

      Hello,

I would like to understand the link between SAP Fiori, Could Edition and HCP.

With trial accounts, when we want to enhance a Fiori app in Fiori, Could Edition, we are transferred to HCP Web IDE.

If a Customer suscribes a license for Fiori, Cloud Edition, will it be available directly in the HCP Cockpit ? Is it separated licenses ? Can we suscribe Fiori Cloud Edition without HCP subscription ?

      Thanks  a lot !

The Fiori Cloud Edition resides on an HCP account.  So you have to have an HCP account in order to subscribe FCE.  As far as license packages, you will need to talk to your AE or a GTM person.  Or check the price list now that it is GA.  Aviad can probably give you more details.  Pricing and actual licensing is getting outside of my knowledge base.

Fiori Cloud Edition is running on HCP as the underlying platform, leveraging many HCP tool and services - Web IDE, Theme Designer, Fiori launchpad,...

In terms of custom build applications in Fiori Cloud Edition I'm struggling to find information on the following:

How does SAP ensure that updates to UI5 libraries are not disruptive for users?

Do we have to do entire testing cycle on every update?

Considering that FaaS is service - What are our responsibilities and what SAP's?

Is Fiori Cloud edition supporting Fiori Analytical Applications?

      Thanks

Hi Satoshi - in case you didn't get a chance to listen to the recorded discussion between Simon Kemp and Aviad Rivlin, perhaps it is worth a listen as it covers several of your questions.  The link (and other topic related content) is found on this page:  SAP Fiori, Cloud Edition
