We are very excited to share with about the recently concluded training on SAP Lumira for 15 bright Young Thinkers and 2 teachers form CMR Ekya School, Bangalore. The training was designed to be delivered over a period of 2 days covering SAP Lumira in great detail and this delightful training was delivered by Sai Prakash and Amit Kumar Singh.

The goal of the training is to equip these young thinkers with the skills to be able to further deliver training along with SAP CSR volunteers to under-privileged students of HOPE Foundation schools and vocational training centres during the Digital Literacy drives by SAP CSR under the National Digital Literacy Mission. This will give these students a real opportunity to get involved in nation building duly guided by SAP volunteers. This is one such instance where SAP CSR and UA team have come together and will continue working in programs directed towards impacting young minds through Digital Literacy drives.

The first day involved quite a bit of theory on Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Databases and how SAP Lumira fits into the landscape. The students were made to create simple tables in MS Excel to understand the basics of databases. The second day was quite interesting and fun. Students had come with their own datasets on varied topics like agriculture, air pollution, train schedules, literacy, etc. We formed groups of 3 students each into a team and asked them to choose 2 datasets through lottery. The kids took it as a challenge and tried to analyze it using SAP Lumira. They used raw data from websites such as www.data.gov.in, which required them to use various data cleanup/ formatting features within SAP Lumira before moving onto visualization part.

At the end all the teams were ready with their great visualizations and analysis of the datasets and story board while duly quoting facts that they researched upon while preparing for their presentation wikipedia, Google, etc.

The feedback and the presentation they had definitely suggests it was indeed a very interesting, fruitful and learning exercise for them and they look very excited about the SAP Lumira and analytics and their use in day to day life.
