Recently a new function has been introduced to SAP EM which can help you to check your rule sets if they are syntactical correct. It is available for all releases starting with SAP EM 7.0. Either you implement note 2217722 or you install the corresponding support package as listed in the note.

With the new functionality a new button is available in transaction /SAPTRX/TSC0TR (IMG activity "Define Rule Sets") in the "Rules" view:

Executing the "Check Rule Set" function

  • checks the selected rule set for syntactical errors (like usage of a non-existing rule)
  • checks the selected rule set for possible issues like usage of conditions instead of condition functions (performance) or having the risk of an endless loop to name just a few

It is definitely a feature that you should try out!

Best regards, Daniel
