Simplification List for SAP S/4HANA in XLS-based format

Hello,

In addition to the Simplification List for SAP S/4HANA published as PDF document in SAP Help (see: Link) we provide the Simplification List in a XLS-based format. The attachement is stored in the following SAP Note: http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2313884

The attached XLS provides per Simplification Item the following information (columns of the XLS):

  • Simplification Item Area:
Functional Area of the Simplififaction Item (for example Master Data, Sales & Distribution, Procurement …)
  • Simplification Item title:
    Title of a Simplfication Item
  • Application Component:
Related Application Component of the Simplification Item (several components are possible)
  • Business Impact Note:
As pre-requisite for a future more customer-specific Simplification List the Simplification Items described in the Simplification List PDF document have been transferred into corresponding SAP Notes. These SAP Notes describe the Business Impact of a Simplification Item. The information is the same information provided within the PDF document.
  • Simplification Category
Containing the category of the simplification. The simplification items can be categorized based on their type of impact:

    • Re-architecting for SAP HANA in-memory platform
Used for functionality that is optimized to leverage the capabilities of the SAP HANA database, for example the new data model.
    • Consolidation of existing functionalities
Functionality that is unified in the core and optimized according to the principle of one, but from a business process and user perspective, the functionality basically remains the same.
    • No functional equivalent
Compared to the SAP Business Suite, there may be no functional equivalent available in the SAP S/4HANA On-premise edition delivery, because SAP S/4HANA is not a legal successor of an SAP Business Suite product. Alternative functionality with application innovation is in many cases already available in an SAP S/4HANA scope, or it is on the roadmap.

With the release of SAP S/4HANA 1610 we attached a corresponding XLS for SAP S/4HANA 1610.

Kind Regards,
Frank

Hi Frank - this is really useful.

It is a lot more workable than the 270 document.

We have finished our app that I showed you a week or so ago. A blog should be up on SCN in the next day or so covering the detail.

Frank - thanks a lot for this. The PDF is great for details, but the link to the OSS notes for each item will come in handy, especially as some of these items that are not retired yet, become simplified in the future.

I know you mentioned the SAP notes aren't released yet, and the Finance ones are not - any idea when they will be?

      Hi Andy,

yes we can not publish it before release to customer. What I can say is that the great majority which will be new within 1610 are Simplification Items related to the industries which are coming into S/4HANA with 1610 (Retail, Oil).

      Kind Regards,

      Frank

      Hello Muthu,

with 1605 you are talking about SAP S/4HANA Finance 1605 (aka Simple Finance). This is the S/4HANA version with the application simplification in Finance area based on the traditional logistics.

Here we don`t have what we call a simplification list. Here the things which are different are documented as part of the Finance migration guide, which can be found in the SAP Help for SAP S/4HANA Finance 1605.

      Kind Regards,

      Frank
