On February 27th we held a SAP CodeJam for HANA with IOT at Innovation Park located at the University of Notre Dame. We had a terrific day with participants from several University of Notre Dame majors as well as local community IT professionals.
The CodeJam provided access to tools, sandboxes, and interactive time with SAP experts. The event served as the morning session preceding a Notre Dame Raspberry Pi coding event in the same venue in the afternoon. Exploring HANA and Internet of Things connectivity was an excellent preparation for the afternoon session. Participants acquired and used a Raspberry Pi device in both sessions, but the primary focus of the SAP CodeJam was to work with sensors, HANA, and cloud connectivity to illustrate Internet of Things use cases in action. We had a number of LEDs, wiring boards and sensors to help attendees experience a variety of scenarios.
We were privileged to have Craig Cmehil, Director Global Developer Relations and leader of SAP CodeJams globally in town to lead the event. This was our second CodeJam at Notre Dame and we saw a noticeable increase in the level of interest and diversity of participants this time. Everyone was actively engaged in the exercises and appreciated the opportunity to learn new technologies.
